If you don't know where to start, you might find it helpful to look at the books we have in the stacks. These are the Library of Congress sections paired with their corresponding subjects, to help you browse for books:
|Call Number||Subject Area|
|NC||Drawing, Design, Illustration|
|NX||Arts in General|
|PN 1560-3300||Performing Arts, Drama, Theater, Film|
|PR - PS||British and American Literature|
This is just a small selection of art books available to check out at Jack C. Taylor Library. Please ask a reference librarian if you need help locating something specific, or try the links to the left to search the classic catalog.
*Note: Many art books are shelved in the "folio" section of the library, because they are too large to be shelved on the regular shelving. The catalog record will say "Fontbonne Univ Folio 2nd Floor" under location if the item is in the oversized shelving (see example below). The folio section is located on the east side of the second floor of the building. *
The Fontbonne library uses Library of Congress call numbers to organize its collection. The classification system separates all material into 21 classes, each with its own alphabet letter. These classes are divided into smaller classes, or subclasses, identified by additional letters and numbers.
