Garments of light : custom clothing from body scans by
Call Number: TT507 .G37 1997
Clothing designer Edith Berlow Gazzuoloi describes the manual process of design and determining fit and documents the first full-scale trial of technology designed to develop custom-fitted garment patterns from bodyscans. Eight women with varying body forms are scanned by the first full body scanner in October 1995 at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. The resulting data sets describing the 3-D geometry of each person's body is processed with technology developed by Gazzuolo to create 3-dimensional garment models that are flattened toproduce custom-fitted patterns; the garments are cut, sewn and then tried on.
