PubMed/MEDLINE

A guide to the effective use of PubMed/MEDLINE to locate research articles.

PubMed & MEDLINE

PubMed comprises more than 28 million citations for biomedical literature from MEDLINE, life science journals, and online books. Citations may include links to full-text content from PubMed Central and publisher web sites.

PubMed is freely available online. This means that you will have free access to both PubMed and MEDLINE after graduation, wherever you may go in clinical practice. As long as you are a Fontbonne student, PubMed is also accessible from the Fontbonne Library website.

MEDLINE is the National Library of Medicine's journal citation index.  When searching PubMed, you are searching MEDLINE, as well as journals/manuscripts in PubMed Central (PMC), and the NCBI bookshelf. PMC it is a free archive repository for journal literature deposited by participating publishers.
