About Me

Professor/University Librarian

Dr. Sharon McCaslin leads the Taylor library staff in the development of library collections and services. She has been an academic librarian and faculty member since 1971 and has been at Fontbonne since 2005. She has served on the MLNC Board of Directors, as President of both the Nebraska Library Association (1992) and the Missouri Library Association (2010), and on the MOBIUS Board of Directors (2014 to 2017) and as President (2017-18).

Her goal is to use the library’s spaces and resources to support student and faculty discovery and exploration, to preserve the historical record, and to provide open access to a variety of information and ideas.

Sharon earned a B.A. in Modern Languages from Kansas State University, a Masters in Librarianship from Emporia State University, and a PhD. in Education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She served as a technical services librarian for 28 years at Peru State College (Nebraska) and as a serials librarian for 5 years at Longwood University (Virginia) before coming to Fontbonne.
