Information about general library policies for Fontbonne students.

Library Policies & Procedures

By knowing and following this information, you, the Fontbonne University Library patron, will greatly improve your overall experience with the Library.

The Library sends messages to your Fontbonne e-mail concerning your library account. Please check your Fontbonne e-mail at least once a week!

Your Fontbonne ID or a driver’s license is required to check out items.

Checkout Periods:

  • Books – 3 weeks with 2 renewals (a renewal will give you another 3 weeks)
  • DVDs & CDs – 1 week with 1 renewal (a renewal will give you one more week)
  • Items on RESERVE – generally 2 hours, used in the Library

Please return items on or before the due date.

After 30 days of being overdue, the library will remove the item from your student Library account and bill your student University account (the account on which tuition is charged and can be paid in the business office or online) for the non-returned item.

Default prices for billed items are as follows:*

  General Collection: $70

  Folio (Oversized):           $120

  Curriculum book:           $45

  Juvenile Literature:              $45

  Video $70

  CD-ROM: $45

  Audio CD: $45

  MOBIUS Book:           $120

Retrieving Items and Interlibrary Loan

If books are not available at Fontbonne, but are available in the Bridges or MOBIUS system, students should request them through the catalog and pick them up at the Circulation Desk.

When books (or dissertations) are not available in MOBIUS, they may be requested through interlibrary loan and picked up at the Circulation Desk when they arrive.

All journal articles that are not available in the Fontbonne collection must be requested through interlibrary loan. Articles will be sent to the e-mail address provided on the request, usually within a week.

Most interlibrary loan requests can be satisfied through the cooperative OCLC/LVIS network at no cost. If the material can only be found outside of that network (including most dissertations), the student or staff member will be notified as to the probable cost. The patron can pay for this transaction if he/she chooses, but the library will not support interlibrary loan costs beyond the LVIS system.

Blocked Library Use

Student patrons may be blocked from using Library services, including Interlibrary Loan. Here are the possible reasons and how to resolve a block on your Library account:

  REASON

  RESOLUTION

  Too many overdue items

  Return items to the Library

  Bill for overdue MOBIUS items

  Return book(s) or pay bill (Ryan       215)

  Abuse or misuse of library privileges
